Mold

North Wales

For their third consecutive week Communists in north Wales mobilised with local communities to oppose the far right and their divisive and new-found fake Welsh patriotism.

In Wrexham 50 anti-fascist demonstrators exposed and humiliated 25 foul-mouthed racists who resorted to chants in favour of the EDL and Tomy Robinson. In their frustration the rump of the far right engaged in anti-social behaviour outside the Saith Seren community pub where they were further mocked by the locals.

Mold suffered the second gathering of the far right in two weeks as Advance UK bussed in their deluded followers in an attempt to establish a local base. Although outnumbered 2 to 1 the 50 anti – fascist demonstrators out-chanted the bemused reactionary rabble. Despite cladding themselves in Welsh dragons (with many Union Jacks) the racists appeared confused by renditions of Calon Lân and the Welsh national anthem.

Information from a comrade who had wandered amongst the far-right confirmed the discouraging effect of the counter-demonstration on them and the shallowness of their own efforts. They dispersed in downcast groups with Yma o Hyd ringing in their ears.

These events show the growing strength of the anti-fascist response to the divisive actions of the far-right with Communists playing an integral part. The decreasing numbers of the far-right also underscores the necessity of countering their gatherings to expose them whenever they appear.
