The Welsh Communist Party condemns the United States’ bombing of Venezuela and kidnapping of its President, Nicolás Maduro and First Lady, Cilia Flores.
The attack is both a grave violation of Venezuela’s national sovereignty and international law, ripping the UN Charter to shreds.
The bombing of Venezuelan cities and abduction of Maduro and his wife, serves to expose the barbaric nature of US gangster imperialism under President Donald Trump.
Ever since Maduro’s predecessor, Hugo Chavez came to power, spearheading a swathe of progressive social reforms, the US has waged a cruel economic war against the people of Venezuela, instigating a brutal blockade in an attempt to strangle the Venezuelan economy.
It is no coincidence that Venezuela sits atop the world’s largest oil reserves. Trump’s absurd pretext that President Maduro is some kind of 21st Century Pablo Escobar, was simultaneously betrayed by his assertion that US oil companies will assume responsibility for Venezuela’s oil industry.
The Welsh Communist Party condemns the slavish response from Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, which merely serves to underline the British state’s role as US gangster imperialism’s lap dog.
The Welsh Communist Party calls on the Welsh Government to condemn the United States’ bombing of Venezuela and kidnapping of its President, Nicolás Maduro and First Lady, Cilia Flores; as a flagrant breach of international law.
The Welsh Communist Party also calls on all Members of the Senedd to oppose and condemn this blatant act of US imperialism which will only destabilise the region and undermine any country seeking to advance progressive policies.
Further more the Welsh Communist Party will be encouraging and joining protests against this barbaric act in communities across Wales.
The Welsh Communist Party has a long history of solidarity with the peoples of Latin America in their struggles against Yankee imperialism.
