The Palestine Solidarity Campaign has recently asked Senedd candidates to take a pledge for Palestine:
As a Member of the Senedd, I will take all appropriate steps to:
* Uphold the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and support the Palestinian community in Wales.
* Support efforts to prevent, and ensure accountability for, Israel’s crimes of genocide, military occupation, ethnic cleansing and apartheid.
* Ensure the Welsh government and public bodies are not complicit in Israel’s violations of international law, including by supporting the Palestinian-led call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions, and terminating all public contracts and financial support for companies and other entities complicit in Israel’s crimes.
The Communist Party of Britain has a history of longstanding support and solidarity with the people of Palestine with active participation and a clear position on Palestine over decades.
The Communist Party of Britain continues to stand in solidarity with the Communist Party of Israel and the Palestinian People’s Party, supporting the struggle of the people of Palestine against the genocidal state of Israel and its horrific war crimes.
The Communist Party Senedd candidates, Jaime Fitter and Robert Griffiths, have both taken the pledge to support Palestinian people and push for the Israeli state to be held accountable, including by detaching the Welsh government from actions that make it complicit to violations of international law.
