On the 23rd of April, a hustings was help at the Temple of Peace with 7 candidates in the Cardiff area. The meeting was organised by the Stop the War Coalition and it was an opportunity for voters to ask questions on party positions in relation to war and the defence industry. Robert Griffiths, the Communist Party candidate for Caerdydd – Penarth in the Senedd 2026 elections, presented the Communist Party position in support of efforts against the genocide in Palestine, the diversification of the defence industry and the role of NATO as an imperialist war-machine.
Robert also pointed to the fact that, even in defence, Wales does not get the correct proportion of the budget. He pointed to the astronomical costs and low efficiency of the defence industry and outlined options for spending this money in the true interest of the people of Wales as opposed to the interest of imperialist capital.
